Informatics Management is one of the Non-Engineering departments at Sriwijaya State Polytechnic that has been officially established since 2002 and began accepting new students in 2003. This department offers two study programs: Diploma (D3) and Applied Bachelor's (D4), with A.Md.Kom and S.Tr.Kom degrees awarded to students upon graduation. The Informatics Management Department campus is divided into two locations. One is the Palembang Campus on Sungai Sahang Street, which features superior facilities such as computer labs, a departmental cafeteria, monitors (TVs), projectors, Air Conditioners (AC), etc. Meanwhile, the campus located in Banyuasin Regency is equally comfortable despite still being in the process of facility development. Nevertheless, Banyuasin Campus students can use the facilities at the Palembang Campus according to schedules determined by the department head, ensuring all students receive the same quality of education.
Informatics Management consists of two words: Management and Informatics. Management is the process or direction by individuals or groups to achieve specific goals. Informatics, on the other hand, is the study of computers in information transformation through processing and data storage based on computing technology. Therefore, the Informatics Management Department offers management courses in the context of business organization utilizing technology. Additionally, the main courses in this department are related to informatics, focusing on software learning. With the various courses studied, students can develop technology-based businesses, such as e-commerce.
The Informatics Management Department provides opportunities for students to develop their interests and talents, not only for those with academic potential. Rather, we open space for expression through interaction with lecturers and peers in fields of interest. We also invite students to contribute directly to department development, such as joining programs or activities organized by the department and providing criticism and suggestions. Furthermore, the department broadly establishes relations with other departments at Sriwijaya State Polytechnic by socializing and assisting other departments in sustaining their activities.
