Curriculum Development Meeting of the Information Management Department May 6, 2025
Meeting Activities and Lunch Gathering at the Department of Information Management: Organization, Objectives, and Expectations
The Department of Information Management is holding a curriculum development meeting with the theme "Workshop on Curriculum Evaluation and Development" followed by a lunch gathering with meeting attendees. This activity will be held on May 6, 2025, at the Palembang Campus.
The meeting will be attended by all lecturers from both the Applied Bachelor's (D4) and Diploma (D3) programs, as well as partners and alumni of the Information Management Department who have been successful in the industrial world. The purpose is to evaluate the curriculum in the Information Management Department to align with current and future technological developments and advancements. As a result, it is expected that graduates from the Information Management Department will be able to compete in the job market with superior competencies by utilizing continuously updated technology. The new curriculum is planned to be implemented at the beginning of the 2025/2026 Academic Year, in September.
Based on the experience of working alumni, digital technology has developed rapidly in the professional world. Therefore, it is recommended for current Information Management Department students to learn from various sources, one of which is by participating in free bootcamps, such as those held by Dicoding, which can provide experience to become digital talent according to industry standards and can complement students' learning in the department. Besides bootcamps, learning can also be done through YouTube and other trusted platforms.
Programming languages commonly used in the industrial world usually include Python, JavaScript, Laravel Framework, CL, and others. Meanwhile, it's not only programming languages that are important for the industrial world, but also English language skills which will be an added value when working, as English will facilitate international interactions and help improve material comprehension.
The new curriculum changes scheduled for September 2025 aim to develop skills that are proportional to the industrial world. Meanwhile, as students, it is also important to expand knowledge through learning outside the campus.
